Interlibrary loan
If a user does not find necessary material in VU Library holdings he/she may order books or copies of articles from other Lithuanian libraries or libraries abroad. ILL service belongs to paid services. Costs of sending and copies is to be paid by the reader if the sending library so requires.

Ordering materials
- The date of return will be indicated by the lending library;
- You will be informed about sent items by email;
- The submitted request does not guarantee that the item will be received;
- Encyclopedias, directories, dictionaries etc. are not lent;
- Periodical publications are not lent as well. You may order only copies of articles;
- Sent orders shall not be cancelled;
- Received publications are kept up to 14 days;
- Reasons for negative response: the last copy has been delivered or non-existent at the library.
Publications, received via Interlibrary Loan, shall be read only in Vilnius University Library reading rooms.

* Copies of articles ordered from other foreign and Lithuanian libraries and information agencies have to be paid according to presented invoices.
* Book borrowing from other foreign and Lithuanian libraries shall be paid according to the invoice submitted by the lending library and adding costs of book ordering and returnin in accordance with the postal tariffs of the Republic of Lithuania;

Copies of journal articles:
- up to 20 pages – 25,10 Lt
- 0,37 Lt for each additional page
Book borrowing – 58,50 Lt.
Knygos grąžinimo išlaidos apmokamas pagal LR galiojančius pašto paslaugų tarifus.
Copies of articles from magazines, the contractual royalty – from 38,80 Lt to 43,20 Lt.
It is necessary to pay only after receiving an email confirmation that the publication will be sent.
Publications from SUBITO will be ordered only after paying for them in advance.

How long does it take to deliver a book from foreign library?
Delivery of a book may take from one week to one month.
How long does it take to receive an article?
An article from Subito document delivery service will be delivered in 1-3 working days. From other libraries it may take from one week to one month.
How much does one usually pay for a book with postal charges ordering it from foreign libraries?
The price including the borrowing fee and postal charges may reach 41,20 LT.
Do libraries always require to pay for services?
Not always, then you pay only postal charges.
Is procedure of book ordering from VU Kaunas Humanitarian Faculty the same as the procedure of ordering from other Lithuanian or foreign libraries, i.e. is it necessary to address Interlibrary Loan?
Yes, address the Interlibrary Loan. Delivery will cost nothing.
