VPN

VU VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a network service used to connect VU students’ and employees’ computers to VU computer network. VPN users can access all databases subscribed by the Library, without acquiring passwords.

First, VPN network has to be set up in your computer. Setup consists of two stages::

1. E-services sign up. Student or employee, having VU email, can log in at https://e-paslaugos.vu.lt/. The newly created password will be used for logging in to VPN.

2. Connect your computer to VPN network. Depending on your OS (Windows XP, Vista, Linux, Ubuntu 9.04 or Mac OS X) choose a step-by-step manual and perform the depicted actions.

This two-stage sign up is performed only when using VPN for the first time.

Connect

To connect to VPN, user has to double-click the VU VPN icon on the desktop. Computer connects to VU network immediately and then the user can browse subscribed databases as if from computers in the University. The user has to disconnect from VPN connection after using the databases.

More information about VPN service, signing up and using it can be found here: http://www.tinklas.vu.lt/?type=menu&itemID=196.

VU computer network rules apply to all VPN users. They can be found here (in Lithuanian).
